Anxiety Conditions: Who suffers from them?

It’s thought that as many as forty million people in the United States suffer from some sort of anxiety. The trouble is that a lot of people still don’t fully understand anxiety and assume those who live with it are just overly worried.

But these conditions can and do affect people’s lives on a daily basis, but they’re not always easy to treat. When someone tells you they’re anxious, you’re likely to understand the condition to a degree, but do you know what kind of anxiety condition they have?

Anxiety comes in many forms such as:
Generalised anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress syndrome, obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic attacks and phobias

As you can see from the list above, there are many different types of anxiety conditions, which mean there are also different ways of dealing with them.

Who suffers from anxiety?
But who is likely to suffer from anxiety in the first place? And isn’t a little anxiety good for us?
The truth is that it’s very hard to say who does and doesn’t suffer from anxiety. This is because a lot of people hide how they’re feeling, choosing only to confide in a trusted few. Anxiety can affect us all at some point in our lives, it’s how we deal with it that counts.

Think about when you had a couple of exams coming up, were you anxious about those? You probably were. Your heart was no doubt beating as you sat down to take the exam.

Have you ever spoken in public? This can be quite nerve-wracking too, as can starting a new job.
Sooner or later the above situations become easier because we’ve passed the exam, we’re used to our new job and so on. But people with anxiety struggle to let go of these feelings because there are many different factors that can bring on the feelings of anxiety and the low self-esteem that comes with it.

A multitude of reasons
People can suffer from anxiety for a lot of different reasons. Perhaps a bad childhood or the loss of a job has made them feel inadequate. Perhaps a recent event has left them feeling worse for wear and unable to function as they used to. This is why it’s not easy to say how anxiety is caused, but it’s sometime even harder to determine who suffers from this condition.

Some people are just too anxious to ask their doctor for help, or they simply don’t think their anxiety is bad enough to warrant treatment. Many people hide their true feelings, which is why you and I may not know how anxious someone we love feels.
It’s safe to say that we all suffer from a bit of anxiety at some point in our lives. But if these anxious feelings last more than a month, it’s definitely time to seek help.

Anyone can suffer from anxiety
Anyone including politicians, pop stars, cashiers, road sweepers, bus drivers, managers, realtors, lawyers, teachers, priests, and receptionists can all suffer from anxiety. It can affect anyone of any age and background, profession and gender. The most important thing to do is to ask for help if you feel your anxiety is taking over your life. The sooner you do, the sooner you will get your life back on track.

The Benefits of Vegetarian Diet

We always hear about how good a vegetarian diet can be, but is it really that good for you? Some people think that cutting out meat altogether is going a little too far, but is it? Are there in fact any benefits to having a vegetarian diet? We’re going to explore this now:

1. A vegetarian diet typically contains less fat than a non-vegetarian diet. Although you will get fat from cheese, milk and other products, you won’t be consuming as much as you otherwise would.

2. When it comes to eating a diet such as this, you’re more likely to know exactly what it is you’re putting on your plate. This is because traditionally vegetarian meals contain fewer preservatives, colors and flavors. What’s more is you’re likely to make home-made meals too, which means you know what goes on your plate 100% most of the time.

3. This type of diet can help with weight loss as there are often fewer fats consumed. This means that if you switch to a vegetarian diet from one that included meat, you’re likely to find that you lose a nice bit of weight.

4. Vegetarian diets can be very good for the environment. If everyone on the planet decided to stop eating meat, each family would only need one field to grow their fruits and vegetables. Meat eaters need 2-3 fields to grow fruit and vegetables as well as raising and feeding their livestock. With a world full of vegetarians, there would be more food available for everyone, and in theory no-one should go hungry.

5. A vegetarian diet can be very healthy as you’ll be getting more nutrients and you’re also less likely to eat foods that aren’t good for you. This means you’ll probably feel healthier and you’ll be less likely to fall ill.

6. A vegetarian diet does not have to be a limited one, in fact there are a lot of tasty dishes out there. You may even find you start eating vegetables you never thought you would enjoy. A diet such as this does not have to be dull, it has the chance to be an exciting one that will leave you satisfied after every meal.

7. Meat is getting more and more expensive these days , so you’ll save quite a bit of money if you switch to a vegetarian diet

8. If you find that you start to miss meat, don’t despair! You can easily find tasty meat substitutes in any supermarket and health food store.

As you can see there are a lot of benefits of a vegetarian diet, so why not think about eating less meat, and more of the good stuff?

Fruit Smoothies can be Tasty and Nutritious

If you’ve never had the pleasure of enjoying a fruit smoothie before, you may not know how tasty and nutritious they can be.
Fruit smoothies can fill you up with a wide range of nutrients, which means your body will be getting the vitamins and minerals it needs.

Because fruit and vegetables are naturally filling, even when you make them into a smoothie, they will help you to lose weight. This is because they contain a lot of fiber which takes up a lot of room in your stomach. This means you’ll feel fuller, and you may not want to eat anything else. Therefore fruit smoothies can help you to lose weight, which is a bonus.

The Natural Way to get Healthy Skin

We all want our skin to be healthy and glowing, but how can we do this without spending a fortune? There are so many different skin care products out on the market right now that it can seem impossible to know which one to buy.

The good news is you don’t have to buy any expensive skin care product in order to have healthy skin. There are four things you can do that will help you to get great looking and healthy skin quickly:

1 Drink plenty of water
Water naturally flushes out toxins, which can leave your skin healthier than ever before. You don’t have to drink a lot of water, just make sure you stay hydrated. If you’re dehydrated your skin will not have as much elasticity as it should, which means it will look a little older. Stay hydrated, drink plenty of fluids and your skin will thank you for it.

2 Quit smoking
Smoking isn’t just bad for your lungs, heart and throat, it’s also bad for your skin too. Every day you expose it to toxins that stay on the surface of your skin until you wash them off. Smoking ages the skin, which means you need to quit if you want good looking skin.

3 Don’t sunbathe
You may love to have a golden tan, but the fact of the matter is that the sun and sunbeds dry out your skin and age it. Tanning causes a lot of damage as well as ageing, so make sure you avoid it. If you really want to have a golden glow, make sure you buy some fake tan as this will do more for your skin than those harmful UV rays.

4 Moisturise
Moisturising will help your skin to stay soft and supple, and it will also help to prevent it from drying out too. A lot of moisturisers come with added vitamin E which is great at nourishing and repairing damaged skin. Moisturisers that also contain cocoa butter nourish the skin too, so daily use is ideal.

If you want healthy skin make sure you take the above 4 factors into consideration. Make a change today and you’ll soon find your skin looks and feels so much healthier.

How to deal with your stress

If you’ve been suffering from stress then you know how it can affect your life and make even the simplest of tasks seem like a challenge. Stress management is the key to ensuring you deal with the causes and how they make you feel. It also deals with getting over the feelings of stress so you can be happier once more.

How can you deal with and manage your stress?
It can be easier said than done, but there are ways for you to tackle and deal with stress right now, so it’s no longer taking over your life. Here are some suggestions that may just help you:

Talk to your doctor
It’s important you speak to your doctor if stress is taking over your life. Stress can greatly affect your health if you let it, so make sure you let your doctor know you suffer from stress before it’s too late.

Identify the problems
Your doctor is likely to ask you what you think is causing the stress. If you’ve already worked this out, you’re one step ahead. Even if you’re not planning on seeing a doctor just yet, it’s worth trying to figure out the cause of the stress. Identifying the problems will help you to determine how and when you can make situations less stressful so you don’t feel so on edge all the time.

Try to make a change
Worked out what’s making you stressed? Now it’s time to try to change it. If your job is causing you to feel stressed, have you thought about working somewhere else? Although it’s nice to have a good job and be well-paid, if your job causes you a lot of stress, you might need to look elsewhere. If you’re stressed because of your debts, get advice from a debt management company. Whatever it is that’s causing these issues, see if you can make that change so your life is a better one.

Get some sleep
The thought of getting a good nights’ sleep is probably one that’s crossed your mind a thousand times. But did you know that getting enough sleep can help you to feel less stressed? Try to get into a routine of going to bed earlier, you’ll feel less stressed, more refreshed and you’re less likely to get ill too.

Exercise is an excellent way for you to relieve stress. It’s a physical way of getting rid of emotions that could affect you for the rest of your life. Find an exercise routine that helps you, and stick to it. You don’t have to visit the gym 5 days a week and then jog for miles, a slow walk could help. Do something you like, stick to it, you’ll feel less stressed and you could lose a bit of weight too.

Drink less caffeine
Sometimes a cup of the good stuff can help us to get through the day, but it could be contributing to your stress levels. If you’re looking to get a good nights’ sleep, cutting down on the amount of caffeine you drink could help you to sleep better. Slowly reduce the amount of cup of tea or coffee you have each day, but remember you don’t have to cut it out altogether. If life seems unbearable without a coffee or tea, try the decaffeinated stuff as it can taste just as good.

Prevention is best!

Reducing your stress can have many health benefits. In fact, by reducing your stress you can reduce the chances of many stress related health conditions. Science is showing us that stress can be the number one driver for conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, allergies, intolerences, chronic fatigue syndrome and many more. For example reducing stress is known to be effective in the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms.

Work on your stress, do your best to resolve it, and your life will start to seem much easier from day one.
