Fall and winter workshops are sponsored annually at a South Carolina college or university. These workshops provide opportunities to share ideas among fellow students and to familiarize students with the state's scientific community .
The SCJAS state annual meeting convenes at the same time as the state meeting of the South Carolina Academy of Science (Senior Academy). The Annual meeting is held in the spring (usually late March or early April). SCJAS student papers are presented on Friday, followed by an Awards Banquet. The annual meeting provides, in a scientific atmosphere, stimulation for capable students. Students research and present papers, as junior scientists, comparable to adult scientists at their scientific meetings. Abstracts of those papers are published in the S.C. Academy of Science Bulletin.
D. ORGANIZATION
The state is divided into seven regions, with at least two adult and two student Directors per region . Regional Adult Directors are the members of the High School Relations Committee of the S.C. Academy of Science. Regional Student Directors are elected each year at the state annual meeting.
